Hong Kong Company Registration and Bank Account Opening Process
Phase 1: Hong Kong Company Registration
1. Document Preparation
Determine the Hong Kong Company's Chinese and/or English names, business nature, and provide passports* and proof of address* for shareholders, beneficiaries, and directors. Specify the registered capital (usually from HKD 10,000, no paid-in capital required). We will setup a session to consult you various aspects (board composition, registered capital, registered office address, naming, tax, bookkeeping, hiring, and social security contributions, etc) of operating a Hong Kong Company.
• Passports and proof of address, or company shareholder documents, all are required to be Certified True Copy.
2. Application Submission
• Electronic Submission (Recommended) + Submit Paper Documents Later: Submit through the Hong Kong Companies Registry's "Easy Registration" website or app. Entirely online, no in-person attendance required. Our company acts as a nominee shareholder to establish the company first, and then transfers it to the actual shareholder.
• Manual Submission: Requires in-person or mailed paper documents to the Registry. Slower, but not required for transfers/not reflected in the register of members. The time depends on when the signed documents are returned and if the Registry has further queries.
3. Post-Incorporation
• Electronic Submission: After approval, you can obtain the electronic "Certificate of Incorporation" and "Business Registration Certificate" of the Hong Kong Company in approximately 1-2 business days.
• Manual Submission: After approval, the paper certificate will be available in 4-6 business days.
4. Seal Making
After receiving the certificate, the Hong Kong Company seal and rubber stamp can be made, typically taking 1-3 days.

Second Stage: Bank Account Opening (Time varies depending on the bank)
5. Application Appointment: Submit the complete set of Hong Kong Company's registration documents, identification documents for directors and shareholders, and business proof (such as contracts, website), etc., to the bank. We will assist our clients to prepare.
6. Interview and Review: The bank will conduct due diligence (anti-money laundering/counter-terrorism financing), inquiring about basic company information, shareholder and director information, beneficiary information, business model, and source of funds of the Hong Kong Company.
7. Account Activation: Finally, an in-person or online interview might be require by the banks before the account of the Hong Kong Company will be officially opened after approval.

Key Differences of Electronic Submission (e-Registry) vs. Manual Submission (Paper Documents)
• Electronic Submission (e-Registry): Supports 24/7 online submission, fast registration of a Hong Kong Company (as fast as one day), and issues an electronic certificate with the same legal effect as a paper certificate.
• Manual Submission (Paper Documents): Requires submission of materials by mail or in person, relatively slower registration (approximately 4-6 business days) of the Hong Kong Company, and ultimately issues a paper "green box" certificate. This boxset can be kept by us or sent to the client.
How Long Does Account Opening Take?
This timeframe is flexible and depends primarily on the bank's process requirements and the client's cooperation:
• Traditional Banks (e.g., HSBC, BOC Hong Kong): More stringent processes, typically requiring 1-2 months or even longer. The time difference mainly depends on whether an in-person visit to the counter is required and the bank's processing queue.
• Digital/virtual banks (such as Wise, Aspire, Airwallex): Faster processing, completed in as little as 3-5 business days, supporting full video verification, no need to travel to Hong Kong.
💡 Key Operational Suggestions
1. Prefer electronic submission: Unless the client specifically wants a paper "green box" as a souvenir, electronic submission is recommended. The speed of obtaining the certificate (within 1 hour) is not only fast but also easier to directly send to the bank for pre-approval.
2. Prepare account opening simultaneously: While registering, we can help the client prepare business contracts, bank statements, etc. The more comprehensive the business documentation, the easier it is to pass the bank's review and the faster the process.
